got to site, signed in had a site induction shown the fire procedures and first aider was on site, and had full ppe on to start the job as it is are company policy and stated in a are compant hand book
found lift and was already turned off and lotto due to full mod under going

used the chain gage on the old chains to see if they had stretched, using the diagrams on the gage itself and found they had stretched 3.5inchs to long

placed my lotto on the isolator to make sure lift would not be turned on during the work i was going to carry out.

clapsed ram down to remove pressure from the system removing the spool in the valve block

removed chain cover over the pully wheels using a 13mm spanner

tied a one ton sling around the chains for support, followed the approved maintenance schedule for replacing chains

using the pliers i removed both split pins from the anchor attatched to the car and slinged the chain to the car to stop the chain slipping

used the pliers to remove the pin so the chain and anchor are no longer attatched together and repeated thismon both side and the ground anchors

lowered both chains into the pit using the sling tied the chain and tackle to support the weight

removed all anchors with adjustable spanners

laid chains down out side and counted the links on the old chains to get the right measurement, done this on both old chains

counted the same amount of links on the new chain and used the chain splitter to seperate the extra chain left

fitted new anchors and blots on the lift car and pit anchors

placed chains over the wheel with a sling to hold the weight

fitted new chains to the anchors using new pins and split pins

checked to see if the chain was not twisted and placed the chain guards back on

hand pumped car back under pressure

removed pit props

lowered car to ground floor and through to check the over travels

repeated the over travel in the top floor aswel

adjusted anchors in the pit to get the correct over travels using two adjustables on the nuts

checked over travels again with a tape measure to make sure there was the correct over run

cleanned up any mess on site i had made and placed all tools and rubbish back into the van

left lift at ground floor and turned off for futher work that has to be carried out

filled out PDA in full detail of repair/replace of chains and got customer to sign work sheet and signed out from site, and left site
